Queensland juniors Oliver Anderson (Yeronga) and Naiktha Bains (Brisbane) have won the Optus 12s Winter Nationals.

Second seed Anderson, who didn’t drop a set for the entire tournament, defeated fellow Queenslander and No.4 seed Mitchell Harper (Yeppoon), 6-1 6-2.

Baines, the girls’ No.2 seed, needed three sets to win her final, knocking out top seed and fellow Queenslander Lizette Cabrera (Townsville), 6-3 5-7 6-4.

The victory is Bains’ second national title for the year in an Optus 12/u tournament after she won the Optus 12s National Claycourt Championship in April.

In the Optus 14s Winter Nationals, New South Wales duo Matthew Tanza (

Carlingford) and Ellen Perez (Shellharbour

) claimed the championship trophy with solid victories.

Twelfth seed Tanza defeated Queenslander, and No.8 seed, George Wall (Runaway Bay) 7-5 6-1.

Tanza won the Gosford Junior Open and the Bathurst Junior Open earlier in the year but this is his first Optus 14s National title.

In the girls’ draw No.10 seed Perez was too strong for Western Australia’s [9] Astra Sharma (Perth), winning her first Optus 14s National title 6-3 6-4.

The Optus 12s Winter Nationals were held at the Queensland State Tennis Centre in Tennyson.

The Optus 14s Winter Nationals were held at the
